Dual concepts as Urban Italian Group opens at Balder in Malmö

Urban Italian Group currently operates twelve restaurants in Sweden and Spain, and has long been looking at Malmö for a future establishment. Now having found the right location, they will be situated in a property near Lilla Torg owned and managed by Balder. The premises are buzzing with activity ahead of the opening in September.

The establishment in Malmö will feature dual concepts: the modern Italian success, Basta, alongside a new Spanish concept, with the name still in development. The restaurant group, known in Sweden for its Italian concepts, is introducing its first Spanish restaurant concept with the establishment in Malmö. Another Spanish restaurant is planned to open in Stockholm in 2026.

"Becoming a part of Lilla Torg, one of Sweden’s most iconic restaurant squares, is a great honour for us. Malmö has a conscious audience that knows what they want, which makes it even more exciting to open here with two international concepts, each one with its unique character," says Brazer Bozlak, CEO of Urban Italian Group.

The premises at Lilla Torg in Malmö is approximately 1,000 square metres and the area will be divided between the two concepts, one with an entrance on Mäster Johansgatan and the other on Landbygatan. While the concepts will share a kitchen and certain facilities, guests will experience them as two separate restaurants. In total, nearly 500 seats are planned, including two outdoor dining areas.
